A $100 bad order is not a $100 loss

Once it ships, you usually lose the product, the shipping, and a chargeback fee. That's why the only cheap fix is catching it before the label prints.

Intelligence engine

8 categories. 20+ signals.
One risk score.

Each order is checked against 20+ fraud signals. Those signals are weighted into a Low / Medium / High score, then explained in one sentence you can act on.

📧

Email Intelligence

Detects 120+ disposable inboxes (Guerrillamail, Tempmail, Mailinator), misspelled lookalikes like gmial.com, and emails that don't match the name on the card. Shopify's fraud check does not do this.

Strongest signal
📍

Address Forensics

Billing vs shipping name, city/state/zip/country, PO Boxes, UPS Store / PMB mail drops, and freight forwarders (Shipito, MyUS, Stackry). Reshipper addresses are a classic "steal it and bounce it overseas" pattern Shopify does not flag.

Shopify misses these
🔄

Customer History

Checks past orders from the same email. Repeat customers with clean history get their risk score reduced — they've earned trust. Previous high-risk flags increase the score.

Velocity Tracking

Detects multiple orders from the same email in 24 hours. Three or more orders from one customer in a day is a classic fraud pattern that most tools miss entirely.

📊

Order Value Analysis

Compares each order to your store's average. A $500 order from a store that normally does $30 orders gets automatically flagged — up to 5x weighting for extreme values.

💳

Payment Risk Scoring

Crypto, cash, and gift cards score higher. PayPal is medium (buyer protection abuse). Overnight shipping on a first high-value order is treated as extra risk — another pattern Shopify's bar does not call out.

📦

Line Item Analysis

Flags bulk orders (10+ items), all-same-product orders (resale indicator), and high-value individual items. Quantity patterns reveal intent that order value alone misses.

🏷️

Discount Abuse Detection

Heavy discounts on first orders and multiple coupon codes are correlated with higher chargeback rates. First-time buyers using 50%+ discounts are flagged for review.

In practice

A flag is a pause, not a cancellation.

Hold fulfillment on High-risk orders until you've looked at the flags. Don't auto-cancel — most stores want a human in the loop.

1
Hold
Before the label is bought

Read the sentence and the flags — disposable email, name mismatch, velocity, first order. That's the evidence. You already know how to judge your own customers.

2

Ship, hold for more info, or cancel in Shopify yourself. RefundRadar never writes back to your store.

About

I got tired of the “looked fine, then the chargeback hit” story

I'm Miles. I go to UGA. I built RefundRadar.

A few store owners told me the same week: they packed an order that looked normal, Shopify marked it low risk, and two weeks later the money was gone. Throwaway email. Name on the box didn't match the card. Three orders from the same person in one day. Nobody flagged it in time.

So I made a scorer that checks that stuff and emails you before you print the label. I don't cancel orders. That's your call.

If it's missing something you actually use, email me — miles@tryrefundradar.com.

FAQ

Common questions

How does the free trial work?
Your first 3 orders are scored completely free — no credit card required. You'll see real risk scores on your real orders before deciding whether to upgrade. Every feature is available during the trial.
How is RefundRadar different from Shopify's built-in fraud detection?
Shopify looks at card checks and a basic address match. We keep that, then add the stuff they skip: disposable and misspelled emails, email vs the name on the card, freight forwarders / UPS Store drops, overnight shipping on a first expensive order, velocity, discounts, and your own customer history. If Shopify already says "cancel," we bump the score — we don't ignore it.
What are the 20+ signals?
Disposable and typo emails, email/name mismatch, billing vs shipping name/city/state/zip/country, PO Box and mail drops, freight forwarders, high-risk countries, incomplete addresses, customer history, 24h velocity, order value vs your store average, payment method (including gift cards), expedited shipping on first high-value orders, bulk / same-product carts, discount abuse, and Shopify's own cancel/investigate flag. Each one has a weight.
Does it modify anything in my Shopify store?
No. RefundRadar only requests read access to orders. It never modifies, cancels, or changes anything in your store. All fulfillment decisions stay with you.
Will this cut my return rate?
No — and we won't pretend it will. Size/fit returns and "changed my mind" refunds are a different problem. RefundRadar is for fraud and chargeback risk: orders you should think twice about shipping.
How long does setup take?
About 10 minutes. Enter your store domain, approve the connection in Shopify, and RefundRadar automatically sets up everything. No manual webhook configuration, no code changes.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime from your billing settings. No contracts, no cancellation fees. Your data is retained for 30 days after cancellation in case you want to come back.
